hmm.. I meant to post this over the weekend, but I spent the weekend catching up with my friends and my sleep in Manchester. Sorry I didn't comment on many peoples review posts, I just didn't have time.
So would it be fair to say that the reaction to the new episode was mixed? XD
I did read everyone's posts so it may sound like I'm answering some of the things other people brought up.

To start with I'll say that I spent most of the episode grinning like a loon, I really love the whole good against evil, angel against demon thing, I think that is because I'm a fantasy genre lover at heart and it's a classic fantasy premise.
Spoilers for 5.01 behind the cut. :)

Well this episode can mostly be summed up with the words - POOR WOOBIE SAM! I really felt sorry for him, he looked so crushed through the whole thing. While I understand that Dean is upset and since he has abandonment/rejection issues, I wasn't much surprised, I think the general feeling in the show that Sam did this awful thing on purpose is a bit unfair. The main theme seemed to be that Sam needs forgiving, but I don't think he really does (for himself maybe). Last season everyone was agreed that Lilith needed to die, even in the season finale Dean said "So how am I going to ice Lilith?" It was just how to do it that they disagreed on, and neither of them was willing to budge, which was where their problems came in, Sam didn't know that killing Lilith would release Lucifer and he was played pretty well by everyone to make sure that it happened. So, no Bobby, you don't get a medal for forgiving him for something he didn't mean to do, (but you're still awesome). I was literally whimpering when Bobby said what he said to Sam - HIS FACE! :( And then I almost literally cheered when I realised he was possessed. I was glad, the speech didn't really ring true to Bobby for me.

The scenes with Lucifer and Nick were all appropriately creepy, and I thought it was interesting that he used the sweet-talking method, whereas Zachariah used the torture-them-until-they-give-in method and see who ended up with the result! I really hope that Lucifer isn't going to be the average bad guy, it would be much better if his position had some merit, I want him and God to have a big showdown and then hug it all out ;D

Becky! She made me giggle so much! I know some people felt uncomfortable about it or thought it was too much, and I understand that. I don't really talk about fandom to many people, because they don't really get it and so you're embarrassed. But for those outside of fandom I guess it's just this interesting phenomenon and they have no obligation to not talk about it. Fandom can be kind of ridiculous, we all acknowledge that at times, so why not just laugh about it? Also I like how the most sympathetic characters towards Sam were Becky and Chuck, because who knows the real story better than them, right?

Oh! I was a little disappointed with the lack of apocalyptic happenings in this episode, so far they appear to amount to a plane crash, some freak weather and the swine flu. However Zachariah is still promising us horsemen and fire, so I'll be waiting for that! I thought it was funny when demon!Bobby said "He ended the world!" and I was a bit "errr....obviously not quite yet!"

All in all, why don't we all take a leaf out of Zachariah's book? "Let's just say it's all our faults and move on?"

Yes times a billion to this and everything else you said about Sam. Poor guy just needs to a hug and to know that Dean still loves him. ):

...This is officially how I want the season to end. Maybe Lucifer/God can parallel Sam/Dean AND THEY CAN ALL REALIZE HOW MUCH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.

Ooh. Excellently put.

Loved your review. <3

I know! Unfortunately I'm not sure it'll happen anytime too soon :(

YES! And they can all sit around one of the apocalyptic fires and sing Kumbaya! LOL

Thank you, hon! <3

word word word to your review
Sam looks so heart broken about everything, I hate that the blame is all on him. I know he didnt do things the way Dean wanted but the result was the same-and Dean opened the first seal which lead to Sam opening the last, they should so all hug it out!

A+ review!

*lol* There should definitely be more hugging, shouldn't there?

I know, I don't really blame anyone for the apocalypse, I think it was kind of inevitable as both the demons and the angels wanted it to happen.

Thanks darling!

I totally agree on the Sam thing. Yes, he ended up doing the wrong thing, but he didn't KNOW. He thought he was doing the right thing. And even if his methods were a little questionable what with drinking demon blood and all, he knew that, but just didn't see any other solution to the problem. I really don't think he should be blamed for anything. But I get why Dean feels betrayed - Sam did lie to him a lot, and went of went off with Ruby behind Dean's back, so I think it's natural that Dean doesn't know if he can trust Sam. I just hope they work things out soon, cause watching them like this hurts :/

Fandom can be kind of ridiculous, we all acknowledge that at times, so why not just laugh about it?
Definitely. And I did find Becky hilarious. But I have to admit when she wrote that Wincest fic, I cringed a little cause I've read those sentences in a few fics and that was kind of weird.

I thought it was interesting that he used the sweet-talking method, whereas Zachariah used the torture-them-until-they-give-in method
I didn't even think about that! But I definitely found Lucifer much more likable than the angels (Castiel being the exception, of course) and I LOVE that the show is portrayed them that way.

I get why Dean feels betrayed too, but I can't really blame Sam for it, because I think it was Dean's inability to compromise that made him feel like he had to lie and sneak around. I want them to work things out too though! They need each other :(

*lol* well I think that they are the stereotypical cheesy lines that you would imagine might be in a wincest fic and that was the reason they were used. I think I was kind of filled with this horrified glee at that point (not sure if that's a normal reaction :D)

I know! I want them to keep going in this direction! <3

I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THE SWEET TALKING VS TORTURE

That said.

Im really sad that they´re not trying to return to the monster of the week formula that made me fall in love with it again. but Sam is back to his woobie self, and eventually dean will forgive him

Dean is an angel condom.

that is all.

Haha, I'm now trying to imagine Zachariah sweet-talking anyone and coming up blank, so maybe he just can't, he'd get half-way through and go "Screw this - you meat sacks have to do what I say, or else!"

Aww, I know a few people feel that way, but they still had some episodes like that last season, so maybe there will be some again this as well as the myth-arc.

He is - I WANT TO SEEEE IT!

Oh, I agree so much with you about Sam. Everyone: Dean, Bobby, Castiel, and Sam, had a hand in starting the apocalypse and it's entirely unfair to lay it squarely at Sam's feet. And he's taking it entirely on the chin, not trying to make excuses for his part at all, and still being shut out. I just wish they would give him the chance to do something big on his own that doesn't end up being a mistake. *Hugs him*

I did hate the Becky part for a variety of reasons, so I won't go into that, lol. :D

I know, I hated how cut off he was during the episode, it really wasn't fair. :( *joins you in hugging him*

*lol* feel free to tell me them if you like! I quite like media that breaks the fourth wall, so that was a part of it for me. I don't know, I guess everyone sees it differently.
